Marshall May is a proven trial lawyer who has repeatedly recovered punitive damages on behalf of consumers, won trial victories for small businesses in “bet the company” litigation, and reached favorable settlements compensating clients for their losses in Texas and throughout the United States. He has obtained numerous jury trial victories for both plaintiffs and defendants. For example, Marshall tried a Barnett Shale oil and gas drilling case to a Dallas County jury, seeking recovery on behalf of an investor for fraud and breach of contract stemming from the failure of a well. The jury found the defendant, a major oil and gas company, liable on all claims and awarded punitive damages to Marshall’s client.
Marshall also recovered punitive damages on behalf of a homeowner against a roofing company in a Dallas County trial. The jury further held the owner of the roofing company individually liable for all damages on the basis that he operated his company as a sham to perpetrate a fraud.
Marshall has a very diverse practice which also includes personal injury litigation, all types of business litigation, and commercial and residential construction litigation. In addition to trying cases, Marshall routinely negotiates for his clients and utilizes alternate dispute resolution methods to help them avoid unnecessary litigation.
Marshall received a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1997, where he was an editor and published author of the Arkansas Law Review, and a B.A. in History from Columbia University in New York in 1993.
Marshall is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of Arkansas, and the Dallas Bar Association.
